What the exchange is, what this site does with its data, and where each figure comes from.
The exchange
The Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX) opened in January 2025 and is regulated by the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA). Listed shares are dematerialised — held as records at the central securities depository (CSD) rather than as paper certificates — and an order reaches the market only through an ECMA-licensed broker.
What this site does
Abren publishes end-of-day prices, figures transcribed from company filings, and a practice simulation. It is a research and data site: it is not a broker, it holds no money, and it places no order. Nothing on it is investment advice.
Where the numbers come from
Prices are the closes the exchange publishes after a session ends. Company figures are transcribed from a filing by hand, checked by a person before they appear, and shown with the document and page they were read from. A figure with no source is not published at all.
What this data is not
It is end-of-day, so it says nothing about the session now under way. The exchange offers no public data feed, so figures are read from what it publishes and can be corrected afterwards; a corrected figure says that it was restated and keeps its earlier value on the record. Nothing here predicts a price.
